Was Lady Gaga’s meat dress a bad choice at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards? After all, are we at all surprised that the self-proclaimed “shock artist” would consider wearing something like this? From bubble wrap to something that looked like bangle bracelets to candy – Lady Gaga leaves no stone unturned when finding her next fashion.
Her meat dress is no exception. Designer Franc Fernandez made the creation, and claims that the meat will not rot, rather dry in to jerky. This means that perhaps Gaga’s creation will be saved and will go down in her fashion archives.
The day after the MTV VMA’s, Lady Gaga spoke with Ellen Degeneres, and said that the meat was supposed to draw attention to the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. She claims that if we don’t stand up for what we believe in, pretty soon we will have as much rights as the meat on our bones.
